Ned Place -- Population Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences/Endocrinology
  Research Interests: Physiology, Reproduction, Endocrinology
Research Description: My principal area of interest is mammalian reproductive biology, with a focus on the life history trade-offs associated with the timing of hormone secretion and reproductive effort. I study the effects of photoperiod and melatonin on female reproductive aging in Siberian hamsters. I am also a collaborator on the Berkeley Spotted Hyena Project at the University of California, where I study sexual differentiation and mating behavior of naturally masculinized female mammals. I pursue basic research that is integrative and comparative, while also being biomedically and ecologically relevant.
