Cornell is a bustling place in the summer. Many
undergraduates participate in research during the summer in Ithaca.
Cornell has at least 15 summer programs sponsored by the Howard
Hughes Medical Institute, the National Science Foundation, as well
as Cornell and private funds.
Students in the program receive:
- a stipend of $3,000 and $1,000 to cover living expenses while
on campus.
- round trip travel to Cornell
- housing in a dormitory (double occupancy) on campus.
Students
are expected to fully participate in all aspects of the summer program.
All participants will give a presentation on their research at the
Leadership Alliance Summer Research Symposium and at the Closing
Day Symposium and Mentor Luncheon.
To be eligible for the program,
applicants must:
- be in good academic standing with a grade point average of 3.0
or better
- have completed at least two but no more than seven semesters
- demonstrate an interest in pursuing graduate study (students interested
primarily in law school, business school, or medical school/clinical
medicine or psychology are not eligible).
- Documented US citizenship or permanent resident status
