The Leadership Alliance is a consortium of this nation’s leading research and teaching institutions whose mission is to support underserved students pursuing careers in research. The Alliance, based at Brown University, supports a number of programs, with the Summer Research Early Identification Program being the largest in scope. The SR-EIP offers undergraduate research opportunities at universities for 8 to 10 weeks. These programs provide students with the opportunities to do research under the guidance of a faculty or research mentor at a participating Alliance institution or corporate sponsor. Through this one-on-one collaboration, students gain theoretical knowledge and practical training in academic research and scientific experimentation.
