In Arts, CALS, and the Biology Major, credits earned through BIOG 2990, Introduction to Research (must be taken before
4990), and BIOG 4990, Independent Research, count as credits toward graduation
(registration forms for 2990 and 4990 are available on this site's
Forms
page).
Arts students can enroll up to 8 research credits each semester and should
realize that 2990 or 4990 must be taken for 3 or more credits if the class
is going to count as a full course, vs. 2 credits of 4990/2990 which is considered
as one-half a course. In CALS, only 15 credits of the 120 needed for graduation
can be put toward research and TAing and internships. BIOG 4990 may fulfill
specific Programs of Study requirements as described below:
- General Biology Concentration - 2-3 credits only
- Genetics and Development - up to 3 credits
- Neurobiology and Behavior - supplemental credits but not advanced course, up to 4 credits
- Systematics and Biotic Diversity - up to 3 credits
