Sample #1 - Freshman with no advanced placement

Fall Term

  1. Introductory Biology (BIOG 1101/1103 or 1105)
  2. Freshman Seminar
  3. Introductory Chemistry (CHEM 2070, or 2150)
  4. Mathematics (calc, finite math or stats) or language*

Spring Term

  1. Introductory Biology (BIOG 1102/1104 or 1106)
  2. Freshman Seminar
  3. Introductory Chemistry (CHEM 2080 or 2160)
  4. Mathematics (calc, finite math or stats) or language*
  5. College elective, distribution, or other requirement (optional)+

Sample #2 - Freshman with AP4 in Biology
(needs 4 additional credits of Introductory Biology) and placement out of first-semester calculus

Fall Term

  1. Introductory Biology (BIOG 1101/1103 or 1105)
  2. Introductory Chemistry (CHEM 2070, or 2150)

*A four-course schedule is recommended for all freshmen during their first semester. Arts students planning to gain proficiency in a language are encouraged to complete their language study as soon as possible. If a four-course schedule that includes language is desired, math could be postponed until the sophomore year. See "Note" below

Fall Term

Note: Biology majors who choose to defer introductory biology or chemistry during their freshman year should request academic advice from their faculty or student advisor on how to complete a biology major when these courses are deferred.
