Advising Grad School Planning

Planning for Graduate School

Approximately one third of biology students enter graduate school upon graduation. A significant number of these students enroll in PhD programs in the biological sciences. Graduates from the class of 2000 were accepted to institutions such as California Institute of Technology, Columbia University, Duke University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Rockefeller University, UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UC San Diego, UC San Francisco, University of Pennsylvania and Yale University. Other students entered masters or doctoral programs in fields such as public health, law, genetic counseling, education, pharmacy, health care administration, and environmental science.

Each September, the Office of Undergraduate Biology sponsors a faculty panel discussion about how to apply to graduate school in the biological sciences. Don't miss it! This is a great opportunity for students to hear from faculty who have served on graduate admission committees.
